Known for his dynamic multi-genre sets, 23 year old DJ Dwai bounces effortlessly between hip-hop, house and afro-latin sounds. Inspired by his international backpacking travels and Colombian-American upbringing, the Queens native is quickly making a name for himself in the NYC nightlife scene.
The self taught artist was first introduced to DJing by his older brother, who exposed him to the dance hall and reggaeton that is still characteristic of his mixes. Incorporating some of his earliest influences like Daft Punk, Super Mash Bros and Major Lazer, Dwai began DJing for frats as a freshman at his alma mater, Columbia University. He has since shared the stage with seasoned EDM artists Cazzette and White Panda and spun at some of NYC’s premier venues including Kinfolk, House of Yes, Baby’s All Right, Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, Highline Ballroom, Marquee, and The DL.
Dwai also curates lineups from his extensive network, which is embedded in NYC’s underground and DIY scenes. You can catch him every third Saturday at Silver Factory for his dance party series, Ride or Dwai.
Dwai is currently based out of Brooklyn.
