Known for his dynamic multi-genre sets, 23 year old DJ Dwai bounces effortlessly between hip-hop, house and afro-latin sounds. Inspired by his international backpacking travels and Colombian-American upbringing, the Queens native is quickly making a name for himself on the NYC nightlife scene. Among his earliest influences are electronic music greats Daft Punk, Super Mash Bros. and Major Lazer. The self taught artist was first introduced to DJing by his older brother, who exposed him to the dance hall and reggaeton that is still characteristic of his mixes. As a freshman, Dwai began DJing for frats at his alma mater, Columbia University. He has shared the stage with seasoned EDM artists Cazzette and White Panda and spun at some of NYC’s premiere clubs and venues including Kinfolk, House of Yes, Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, Highline Ballroom, Marquee, and The DL. Dwai curates lineups from his extensive DJ network, which is deeply embedded in NYC’s underground and DIY scene. His dance party series Ride or Dwai currently takes place every third Saturday at the Silver Factory.
